An axonometric of the first phase. The masterplan proposes a mixture of urbanity and openness.

Different ways of expression for different conditions.

A brand-new residential area, ‘Regatta’, is being developed on a derelict site next to the Galgenweel sports lake in Antwerp. Our contribution to the housing project strives for an interplay of simplicity and unpredictability. In both plan and appearance, cohesion is pitted against difference. We took every opportunity to capitalise on the coincidental. The trapezoidal plots generate a broken roofline. At the corners, the roofs are distorted, and the doors positioned differently. The articulation of the facades is more graphic than tectonic: this is a designed urban district featuring a range of evocative frontages.
